“Backlit” screening featuring Alison Cupples and Meghan Young

On Monday October 21st at Charles River Studios, High Output Academy and Women in Film and Video New England hosted the screening premiere of “Backlit” featuring Alison Cupples and Meghan Young.

Alison and Meghan are both Senior Account Executives at High Output who have worked on such major motion pictures over the years as Knives Out, Little Women, and Hocus Pocus 2.

We networked and learned the ins and outs of account management in the film industry. Stay tuned for the videos online.


“Backlit” featuring Carissa Spatcher

On Friday May 27th, High Output and WIFVNE held a screening on “Backlit” feating Carissa Spatcher at High Output Rhode Island.

Carissa has been a member of film unions IATSE Local 481 since 2008 and local 52 member since 2011. She is a grip who has worked on such major productions as Don't Look Up and Gossip Girl. Before becoming a union member, Carissa worked as a repair technician at High Output, welding, fabricating, and repairing equipment. Carissa is a passionate activist and advocate for worker's rights in the entertainment industry. Check out her interviews for “Backlit” below.


“Backlit” screening featuring Maddie Staszak

On Monday March 21st at High Output Brighton, High Output Academy and Women in Film and Video New England hosted the screening premiere of “Backlit” featuring Maddie Staszak.

Maddie is a cinematographer in the Boston area. In her interviews, Maddie discusses her experiences working on different types of sets including her commercial work with Wayfair and her time at Panavision.

At the screening, attendees viewed Maddie’s interviews for the “Backlit” series, networked with fellow artists and filmmakers, and enjoyed snacks and drinks.


Mobile Elevated Work Platform (MEWP) trainings

Trainings led by Entertainment Rigging Services (ERS) owner Ethan Gilson. Participants went through presentation and practical sessions, resulting in a MEWP operator certification card upon completion.

Participants operated scissor lifts, boom lifts and vertical lifts in an obstacle course environment.


Video Conference Operator Training

High Output held free Video Conference Operator trainings on Thursday 1/27/2022 at our Canton location. Completion of the training course qualified participants to work as a Zoom Conference Operator for High Output’s Overhire list.

High Output project manager Aliza Ouellette instructed sessions with the assistance of Levon Fox who managed the Tricaster content for a more real-world situational feel.

The training focused on the operation of Zoom in the context of virtual and hybrid events. Participants learned:

  • Basic Zoom Operation

  • Breakout Room Management

  • How to host a Zoom Webinar

  • The Finer details to achieve the best audio and video quality for Zoom callers


“Backlit” featuring Elisa Garcia at The Loop Lab

Cambridge-based organization The Loop Lab hosted an Open House on January 5th, 2022. In addition to providing information about The Loop Lab’s varied resources and apprenticeship programs, the Open House featured video screenings from the “Backlit” video series produced by Women in Film & Video New England and High Output Academy, as well as several short films produced and edited by The Loop Lab’s youth apprentices for a project with Audible.

The “Backlit” video spotlights local director and cinematographer Elisa Garcia, one of the founders of the Greater Boston Artist Collective (GBAC).


BRIGHTROOM X “Backlit”

The in person premiere of “Backlit” featuring Jaina Cipriano, Boston based set designer, photographer, writer, and director. Jaina’s photography studio, Finding Bright Productions hosts a regular networking and photo event titled “BRIGHTROOM”. For November’s event, they collaborated with the “Backlit” premiere to bring new people into the space, introduce Jaina’s art, and provide a headshot studio. Guests were welcome to join the screening and networking portions for free and an additional ticket was available to have your headshot taken by Angela Cannatelli in a unique setting. Video premiere of “Backlit” with WIFVNE

This video series is a collaborative effort with a mission to shine a light on those working behind the camera. On Friday October 15th at High Output Brighton, we hosted a video premiere of our “Backlit” series with Women in Film and Video of New England. This series has been made possible by WIFVNE members, Lesley University students and others who want to be involved in the film industry. This first premiere was for our 1st artist in the series, Amanda McGrady. Amanda is a New England based Cinematographer who shares her technical and artistic perspective on the film industry.
