The Challenge
The Crossroads Community Cathedral had value engineered out expensive motorized hoists for scenery battens, and in turn wanted to add back in more cost effective scenery batten solutions. The structural steel on 20’ centers in the building prevented installation of conventional counter weight and motorized rigging systems with standard steel pipe battens.
Our Solution
High Output designed a rigging solution for linesets needed to achieve the necessary goal; two (2) chain hoist linesets and three (3) counter weight line sets. Both Systems used the new Vortex/Oaktronics A14 aluminum pipe batten which is designed to allow lift points on 20’ centers.
The Outcome
The use of A-14 aluminum battens in the rigging systems allowed for scenery linesets thus eliminating the need for more expensive miscellaneous steel, which would have prevented the cathedral from utilizing flying scenery capabilities for sometime in the distant future.
